Green School Conference New York City, USA

It was a momentous day for Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad as Ms Manju Rana, Principal Cum Director of the school and Ms Madhavi Goswami, Environment Ambassador of the school were conferred with ‘Inspiring Green Leader Award’ and ‘Inspiring Green Educator Award’ respectively at the 2nd NYC Green School Conference held at New York, USA ,on September 24, 2018.

The earnest initiatives and endeavours of 24 School Investors, Administrators, Teachers and Principals from across the globe, in the direction of Environment through Education, were acknowledged and honoured during the event.

The event was an International Academic event that aimed at bringing together the growing community of Green School Educators to further the shared mission of creating high-performance Green Schools.

The life, journey and ingenious works of the Green School leaders shared at this platform were highly inspirational. It was enlightening to know about the various practices undertaken by the Green schools in this direction: to name a few- curricular and funding resources, work on embedding sustainability into school campuses with outdoor classrooms, improved learning outcome through nature connected learning environment and many more.

Celebrated leaders and Inspiring Speakers from across the world from the fields of Education, Environment, Government, Non-profit organizations and Business took the stage in this event. Keynote Speaker of the event was Ms. Robin Organ, Founder Project Green schools USA. Other speakers were National Green Council Members, Linda Flannelly – Lindenhurst High schools , Cynthia Nichols – German International School New York , Sandvika High School Norway, Gbujie Daniel Chidubem – team 54 Project USA, O. S. Mbuya- Professor and Director , Centre For Water Resources, Florida Climate Institute USA ,Madhumita Ghosh- Practice Lead AI – IBM and Vipin Shah – former Project Head of Government Green School Gujarat , Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan , Gandhinagar, Government of Gujarat.

The programme provided a platform to learn about the Green Curriculum, Green Teachers, Green Policies and Practices, future Green Pedagogies, Green School strategies, discover ideas for creating Green Schools and other solutions of challenges faced.

With the school joining the International Eco Schools Guild, ethical responsibility towards preservation of the environment is even higher than before. Recognition of the efforts of school at an International forum like United Nations is not just another feather in the cap of school’s achievements but also a catalyst boosting us to continue with this noble work relentlessly and with zeal. Seth Anandram Jaipuria School will incessantly work towards rekindling of human spirit which is more awakened and sensitive to the idea of salvation of our treasurable environment.
