IN THE LOCKDOWN, LET’S BE POSITIVE
The coronavirus pandemic has forced the people across the world to stay indoors and practice social distancing. The world economy has taken a hit, all the manufacturing, financial activities have come to halt, yet there are many positive aspects which we can be happy about during this lockdown.
Regeneration of nature, discovery of new sources of recreation, increase in the sense of social responsibility among people, strengthening of family ties etc…
The maximum benefit of the lockdown has been to nature. A breakdown in large scale industrial activities has given a reprieve from land, air, water and noise pollution. Improving AQI and visibly clear water of rivers across the world are a testimony to this fact. Birds and animals of different species are roaming freely in and around human habitat like never before.
People across the world are staying indoors without any significant coercion. It is a proof of enhanced sense of social responsibility. Many people – commoners as well as celebrities have joined hands to help the poor and the deprived in this hour of crisis.
The institution of family has emerged as strong emotional support. As people are forced to stay indoors and do even their official work from their homes, they have also got the opportunity to spend quality time with family. Parents have become teachers as they are assisting their kids with virtual schooling. Restriction on outdoor activities has prompted people to discover and invent indoor activities for recreation and fitness.
Besides these, a forced respite from the daily work schedule has given people a chance to observe, appreciate and merge with nature. Respecting the limits of the nature is the only way for sustaining on our precious earth – this pandemic has made us all realize this fact.
