Virtual Exchange Programme

Virtual Exchange Programme

Virtual Exchange is the collaboration of apparently distant and faraway classrooms. These classrooms from different corners of the world connect with each other through video, chat, call, or any other form of technology. It’s made possible virtually! Virtual Exchange allows classrooms to not only communicate with diverse perspectives but learn with those perspectives as well. Exposure to diverse, intercultural perspectives is imperative to building the future global leaders of today. In today’s scenario, students have the capabilities to become the change agents of society and powerful global citizens. A virtual exchange program is an opportunity for students to see these capabilities and let them connect with learners from around the world. It’s done through collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, analytical skills, problem-solving, and more!

We lately happened to connect with the pupils from the USA and Italy belonging to various schools having different ethos as well as perspectives of learning. Our students discovered that they are not leaders of the future, but they are leaders already! We were amazed at how proactive and creative our students became when given the platform to lead and problem-solve to address both local and global challenges (and find opportunities)! They were able to put forth their views and elaborate on various points of discussion allotted to them. They were pretty confident in explaining the facts and were extremely welcoming while listening to the students from other countries. This is what the schools are liable to provide their pupils these days, so that they have a skill to understand diversity and have acceptance to the views presented by others.

Such programmes build a genuine understanding of the world outside the child’s neighborhood through cross-cultural sharing and global relationships. It is mandatory for the learner of today to be globally connected. They should be made aware of their true responsibility as a civilized citizen. When the students connect with other learners, it naturally creates the learning environment necessary to build 21st-century skills essential to thrive in this fast-changing world we live in. An exchange programme gets to facilitate three core skills in children such as learning skills, literacy skills, and life skills. They get hands-on experience in developing their creativity, sharpening their critical thinking, enhancing collaboration, improving communication, refining information literacy, media, and technology literacy. They also get an opportunity to hone their flexibility, leadership qualities, inventiveness, productivity, and social skills.

The school that strives to improve its students’ global competency through project-based, experiential learning, will always be able to mould and nurture their learners informing and developing successful global citizens. Such students will always be able to carve a niche for themselves in their practical lives. They are made to think that they are the major contributors in shaping the world and it’s their prime responsibility to create a harmonious society and global community.
